Teams Event: How It Works

Welcome to our exciting Friday Night Teams Event! This unique poker format adds a thrilling twist to the game, as players team up to combine their skills and strategy. Here’s how the event will unfold:

Game Structure

• Individual Play: At the start of the tournament, players will compete individually. You’ll play your hands just like a regular tournament, focusing on building your chip stack and making the best decisions for your team.
• Break and Combine: Once we reach the scheduled break, the chip stacks of both team members will be combined. From this point onward, the game shifts to a team format where both players work together.
• Alternating Play After the Break: After the chip stacks are combined, players will alternate playing each blind level. For example, Team Member 1 will play during one blind level, and Team Member 2 will take over for the next. This rotation will continue throughout the rest of the tournament, requiring coordination and strategic planning.

Open Strategy Discussions

• Team Communication: Throughout the event, you and your teammate are encouraged to discuss strategy openly. Whether it’s planning your next move or debating the best way to handle a tricky situation, teamwork is key. However, be mindful not to hold up the game—keep your discussions concise and to the point.

Table Etiquette

• Support from the Sidelines: During the tournament, teammates are allowed to stand behind their partner to provide support. However, you must remain on the same side of the table as your teammate. Standing on the opposite side is not permitted, as it could provide an unfair advantage.

Fair Play Rules

• No Cheating: We’re all here to have fun and enjoy the game, but fair play is paramount. Any signs of a teammate attempting to look at other players’ cards will result in immediate disqualification for the entire team. Let’s keep the game honest and competitive for everyone.
